I am Laxmi Kantha Rao Thota, and I am thrilled to be here today as a Legislative Assembly (MLA) member representing the Jukkal Constituency in Telangana, India. I am an ardent supporter of the Indian National Congress, motivated by devotion, passion, and tenacity.My family has a long history of social service and political involvement. My family members are strong supporters of the Congress party. Growing up in such an environment taught me the value of public service and the strength of political action. I've been doing social and community work for more than three decades, empowering marginalized communities and advocating for their rights. Since 1990, I have actively worked with commercial sex workers, HIV/AIDS-affected families, and vulnerable children. I've organized awareness campaigns, educational activities, and health-related projects. My initiatives in broadcast media have increased awareness, reduced discrimination, and enhanced healthcare access, resulting in a more caring and inclusive society. In addition, I have worked to improve educational access, promote rural development projects, and advocate for gender equality. As a proud member of the SC (Madiga) community, I am determined to remedy the Madiga community's underrepresentation in Jukkal. With your help, we can elevate their voices and strive for a more inclusive and fair society. I am motivated by leaders like as Prof. Amartya Sen and Dr. Kenneth Kaunda to promote social justice and inclusive progress. My academic background includes an M.Phil. in Development Communication from the University of Wales, an M.A. in Mass Communication, and current Ph.D. study at the University of Oxford.
